Baby Product Review: Dria Nursing Cover

This review is something I'm SO SO SO excited to share with you guys!

Dria Nursing Cover

http://www.driacover.com

First of all, I have been looking for something like this for YEARS!

I've been nursing babies for what seems like a steady 4 years straight.
And I've used nursing covers that look like this:

And they suck (for lack of a better word)! The back is open so if you are wearing something that requires you to lift your shirt, you'll have an open back for all to see. And that's just tacky! The fabric is stiff and doesn't "breathe". And they are simply NOT cute!
Ever.

I was at a moms group sometime last year and a friend of mine took her Dria Cover out of her diaper bag and pulled it over her head and started nursing. I shouted "I NEED THAT!!"
I wasn't nursing a child (full time) at that time but I vowed to get one once I had my next baby.
We got pregnant shortly after and I bought the cover in Oslo. I've been looking forward to using it ever since.

I got the cover in the mail and I immediately opened the packaging.
The feel of the Modal fabric is simply delicious! I have 2 summer babies so I can tell the breath-ability of the cover will be so nice on those hot days!
I washed it and threw it into the dryer.
Now keep in mind, my baby is a week old and I also have a 2 year old & a 4 year old. So I left it in the dryer for longer than I'd like! Pulled it out, fully expecting it to be a wadded up, wrinkly mess.
NOPE.

It's still as silky & luscious as when I pulled it out of the original shipped packaging.
So I can tell I'll be able to throw it into my diaper bag and pull it out and it'll look as great as it ever did.
I love the careful handmade quality of the stitching.

Aside from a nursing cover, the Dria Cover can be used as a car seat cover. Its 4-way stretch allows you to fit it over any infant car seat.

We had always put a muslin swaddle blanket over the stroller to block out sun or other weather. But it's annoying when you can't see your baby through that blanket. The Dria Cover can be used over the stroller. And it's rad that it has an instant "window" to peek on baby without disturbing her.

It looks adorable on a preggo belly. But it also looks great on a post partum mama too. My week old muffin top situation isn't cute. But I put that cover on and "voilà"! Instantly no muffin top! What?
I'd get it simply for that alone!

So, there you have it. This cover is insane. Why has no one thought about making this before?!
Genius!

The Dria Cover is the perfect accessory for me. I've found it incredibly helpful and I pretty much haven't taken it off for the last 3 days!
The feel of the fabric is rich and the color is beautiful. I can't understand how I lived without it!

And what's even better is that you can now get it online at Zulilly (but only for like 2 more days! 😁 So grab it quick) for an insanely cheap price.
I'm going to buy another one in a different color!

Hope this review helps!

Disclaimer: I wasn't paid by Dria Cover in any way and am giving my own honest opinion of this product. :)

Preview of our new nursery!...

So, after 2 little boys, we are excited to have our first girl in the next few weeks!

I've been dreaming about decorating a girl nursery since I was, oh, about 12!

I wanted a vintage/antique nursery with personal touches all over.
So I went to my #1 website/waste of time/craft corner, Pinterest.
And I started pinning.

I pinned about a billion ideas and I wanted to share a few that we actually have used!
I was given 3 teacup and saucer sets by a dear friend who is an actress in LA. She's awesome and sent them to me as soon as she found out we were having a girl.

I picked up anything made of milk glass at any antique shop we visited.

Here are a few pics of our "final reveal"!...
This is the French Provincial dresser we bought off of Craigslist. We're going to use 1/2 of the dresser as her changing table.

I made these curtains:
They're hard to see, but I ruffled antique lace.

This is our crib skirt. (Which I'm ridiculously in love with!)

I have this amazing antique gold mirror and gold frames up with the muted mint painted wall above our crib:

This is the fabric for my crib sheets.

I painted this antique lamp in ivory (and kept the gold parts, gold. And I set it up in the corner of her nursery.

For now, I'm still über pregnant and will post the FINAL NURSERY photos after everything is complete!

Cheers!

Kids Fashion Tips

I need to write a book on how to make your baby look fashionable.

But a few people have asked me recently and I wanted to mention a few tips.

In no particular order:

*Buy girl jeans for your boy baby. Skinny jeans or straight leg jeans are best. Make sure that there are no pink stitches or hearts on the back pockets.
If you are getting girl skinny jeans for your boy, get one size larger so they are long enough.

*As soon as ANYTHING gets a stain or a hole (other than hole in jeans...which I'll get to later) donate it. Even "play clothes" and jammies.

*Only put clothes on your child that FIT THEM. Shirts that are too short look silly and pants that are too big or baggy look sloppy...even on kids.
The exception to the rule is skinny jeans that are getting too short can be rolled up once to get a few more months out of them. Even on boys a "Capri" is cute as long as it's a skinny jean.

Keep a box or a bin in each child's closet with things that are too small. Anytime they put it on and it doesn't fit, immediately put it into the box.

*Jeans that get holes can have a cute patch sewn inside to make them look nice again.

*Do your child's hair!
If your baby doesn have any hair or has bald spots, put a hat on him...
Or put a bow on her...
A simple felt bow will be great.

You don't need a big huge tacky flower the size of her face.
This is the exception to the "big bow" rule...
And the only reason why it's ok is because this baby has a lot of hair and the bow doesn't take away from the adorable-ness of this baby!

*Once your baby turns 2, stop shopping at Carter's. No more "My Daddy thinks I'm adorable" onsies. In fact, no more wording on shirts at all. Dress your child like a little CLASSY adult.

*No occasion is EVER too casual for a bowtie!

* Vintage Styles are back!
1920's-1960's look great on a child
 (no 80's though!)

*And my biggest rule of all:
COLOR COORDINATE YOUR FAMILY!
If you choose to match your "same sex" children, that's perfect. If not, at LEAST have everyone wearing the same general colors or coordinating colors.
It's important people.
Do it.

Well I think that's about it.
I could probably go on for days. And I'm already thinking of a follow up to this, but here ya go for now.

Your baby is a person too.
Remember that!
:-D

Bun-Day, Tuesday, Wednesday

So let's just be honest here.
There are certainly days I just can't get myself together enough to do anything productive.
Ok, I clean up after the kids, probably nap, usually make a craft with them, sometimes take them to the park, probably clean up more and by the time it's almost time for dinner and I know my husband's on his way home, I'm panicking cause I look like poo and haven't taken a shower the whole day.

I'm from the old school and there are just certain things my husband doesn't see.

We never talk about bathroom happenings (pretty sure he's convinced women don't use the "rest"room.)

I like to make sure I'm presentable for my man. I don't know why. Call me old fashioned but I just do.

So if he's about to come home and I'm still lookin like a hot mess, I need a quick solution!

Ah ha!
That's it!

It's a BUN-DAY!

So I searched online for all sorts of cool and unique ways to bun my hair.

Here's my very favorite bun:

Sock bun. Affectionally known as sock donut. (I probably just made that up, but whatev.)

You see, I have seen buns look like this...

And that's not cute at all!

So while I wanted my bun to be a little full, my hair is really long and already makes a pretty thick bun.

So baby sock it was. Try to find a color close to your hair color.
I cut the toe of the sock off and rolled it around itself til it made a sock donut.
(Mmmmm donuts....I'm pregnant, remember!)

1.) Pull your hair up to the crown of your head.

2.) Tie it off into a ponytail.

3.) Place the sock donut onto the end of your ponytail and tuck the ends in.

4.) Start rolling the sock down your hair

5.) Be sure to spread your hair around the sock evenly so you cover up the whole sock underneath.

6.) Once you get to the root of the ponytail, pin it onto your head with a bobby pin or two.

Viola!

Once your done with your bun, remove the sock donut and ponytail holder and your hair will have beautiful, full big beachy waves.

Gorgeous!
